It was also used to advertise for Novahq.net since our button was placed on many squad and fan sites giving us a lot of exposure. phTop50 lists and ranks the largest and most visited NovaLogic related websites via a simple image code users place on their site. Novahq.net also offers sub domain forwarding for squad and fan sites (completely PHP based) and user selectable styles. Right now the site has around 12 active styles that members can select when visiting the site. Using a template, users could design and submit to the admin's there own design for Novahq.net. Right now There are 5 or so user generated designs active on the site.

Novahq.net is a joint venture between Steve (http://www.pan1c.com) and myself. Steve does most all the graphics and a lot of ideas while I do most of the backend work. Steve is responsible for most of the templates used on the site.

American Fastening Systems - B&C Eagle

Date: 05/2005 - Current   Backend: PHP/MySQL/Ajax

American Fastening Systems - B&C Eagle
American Fastening Systems is a wholesale company located in Minnesota. They are a fast growing company in the highly competitive collated fastener industry with their private branded B&C Eagle products. When I was first contacted by the company, they had absolutely no online presence. Their customers relied heavily on the informational catalog that the company updated and sent out once a year. With the amount of information increasing and room in the catalog running low, the company decided that it was time to add their wealth of information to the internet so that customers could get the most up to date information currently available. I started working for the company in July 2005 to create a dynamic website that listed information about the company and the products they carry.

The goal of the website was to allow a customer to visit the website, select the type of pneumatic nail gun they had, and obtain a list of collated fasteners that fit that tool. With so many tools and so many types of fasteners, this was a real hassel trying to find information in the static catalog. Most other websites were not much help either because they were always outdated, hard to understand or did not allow users to search or select products. The solution with the automated, tool selectable 'fastener selection guide' worked out extremely well and within a few weeks after the website was launched it started receiving a steady flow of hits that has steadily increased over the years. The website is now indexed in major search engines and can be found quite easily by searching for the companies products. The website has helped B&C Eagles customers find the most up to date information about B&C Eagle products. The website has also helped reduce call volume from customers with general questions about products and has made it quicker for them to find the needed information to service the end user.

Authorized employees at the company can easily add new information when available by using a simple admin panel and forms. The employees can also modify any page with a custom Ajax editor that allows them to modify the page directly. This allows them to easily correct errors or add additional information to the website quickly without much traning.

After the website was built, I also helped to overhaul and re-configure their catalog. For the catalog and website I took a lot of high quality photos of current products to help customers identify the correct fasteners. Samples of the catalog and some photos are below. The photos have all been re-touched and enhanced using Adobe Photoshop CS4.

Kush Films

Date: 12/2003   Backend: PHP/MySQL/Flash

Kush Films
Kush Films is a website for a major film producer in the United Kingdom. The website hosts contests and movie info / reviews for most new and older indie movies. The site was built on a php/mysql backend that allowed users to register for the film club, post events to a calendar, access restricted areas of the site and participate in surveys.

The sites webmaster was able to maintain the website though an admin panel that allowed him to moderate the new members, modify existing or build new pages, and control every other aspects of the site. Page building with no html knowledge was necessary so basic web forms were used alot throughout the admin panel.

The sites owner also wanted a very simple drop in photo album, which is where phAlbum was born. The photo album easily allowed the webmaster to upload photo's from his digital camera to a directory on the site. After uploading the images they instantly appeared on the site without any further steps necessary. Along with an easy to use photo album, he also wanted a very simple drop in media player. The script was never released to the public like phAlbum but it allowed the webmaster to upload mp3 files to a directory, much like phAlbum and then allowed the users to play the file, without being able to download it, satisfying the need for copyright protection. Most of the sites graphics were designed by Pan1c Media, while all of the Flash work was done by Mad Brad Productions.

Chariko Of Japan

Date: 10/2003   Backend: PHP/MySQL

Chariko Of Japan
Chariko Of Japan was a jewelry website that only allowed members of a club to access it and purchase custom made jewelry. Before members were allowed access, they had to sign up and be approved by the club owner. After approval the member was sent an email with credentials to access the site. Once the members gained access to the site, they were presented with a slideshow of jewelry that allowed them to easily add items to their shopping cart without leaving the user controlled slideshow. When orders were placed they were stored encrypted (AES/Rijndael-128) in a database for later processing by the club owner. The admin panel let the club owner keep track of orders and shipping information, it also automatically sent emails when the club owner billed the members credit card and shipped the item. The club owner could easily upload new jewelry with just a price, description and photo.

Cyber Soliders

Date: 08/2004   Backend: PHP/MySQL

Cyber Soliders
Cyber Solders was a squad that had a very active member’s base and found it hard to maintain a large website. Content on the site needed to be updated daily and users wanted to add and modify their own content on demand. They were looking for something a little more robust then what they were using but did not want to use a system like PHP-Nuke because of a recent hike in security vulnerabilities and lack of customizations that fit their specific needs. This site was my second attempt (Novahq.net being the first) at putting my phPortal script into production. phPortal was never released as a public script but it was used on quite a few sites I created around this time with pretty successful results.

phPoral allowed the users to generate and submit their own content and then have the administrators approve or deny it. The site had many custom areas such as roster, record, schedule and interactive calendar that allowed users to sign up to play in matches. The site also allowed the host to upload scores after the match was over and automatically post the stats for each player. Each member had their own portfolio that they could edit, which also had to be approved before the changes became active on the site. phPortal also integrated into their phpBB bulletin board system which allowed permissions to work across the site and allowed the members to have a single login.

Most of the sites graphics were designed by Pan1c Media, while all of the Flash work was done by Mad Brad Productions.

Panther's Den

Date: 09/2000   Backend: PHP/MySQL

Panther's Den
Panther's Den was the first site I ever created, you can see my very first design below. The original design was built by my friend and I and is when I started to first learn how to make graphics and code HTML. The shown layout is the last layout I used for the site. The website was used for personal information and missions I had created before Novahq.net was launched in 2001. The site is no longer active and now forwards to phphq.Net. Below is a very close re-creation of the first Panther's Den. Mostly gathered though sites such as the Internet Archive

Team Friction

Date: 01/2003 - 05/2004   Backend: PHP/MySQL

Team Friction
I joined Team Friction after Viper Squadron (below) disbanded and instantly became the squads webmaster. This site was built using a modified version of my PHP content management system, Simple Squad Site. Simple Squad Site allowed users to download a simple package and instantly create a site for their squad or clan within a few minutes. The sites content was added though the admin panel so no html or other coding knowledge was needed. Some of the modifications included integration with the forums, server stat tracking and a mission database for squad members to upload custom missions and files.

Viper Squadron

Date: 09/2001   Backend: PHP

Viper Squadron
Viper Squadron was a squad during the days when I first started playing the online game Delta Force. Viper Squadron was a very popular squad that was around for many years. I took over the web design duties of the squad shortly after joining and this became the second full site I ever built. With this design I learned a lot about coding and graphics. I actually got the design idea from a commercial; though I don't remember which one. I really enjoy the simplicity of this design although it may not stand up to today's standards.
